Lots of dry soap scraps!
Bits of soap that slowly dissolve on the edges of the sink. I try to take them but they slip out of my hands as soon as I try to use them with a little water. The fight is in vain. I collect them all together and transform them into something more conveniently usable.
Preparation
Crumble the scraps with a mixer. Otherwise, settle for breaking them up with a knife, they will only take longer to melt.
Put them all in a water bath with a little water. Bring the water to a boil and stir occasionally. When the dough is well melted and homogeneous, pour it into a mold of the shape you prefer (indulge yourself with the beach molds ...).
Remember to grease it with oil beforehand, otherwise it won't get out of there easily. Beat it on a countertop to compact it and level it with a knife. It should then be allowed to dry.
In winter it's easier, just put it on a radiator. Otherwise you need to be patient. When it is completely dry you take it out of the mold and let it dry again. It doesn't have to be cured as long as self-made soap, as long as it is of the consistency you think is correct for a bar of soap.
For every liter of water you need about 200 grams of self-produced Marseille soap flakes. A normal grater is enough ..
The processing waste, on the other hand, must be crumbled with a mixer or a knife. It is brought to a boil, stirring frequently with a whisk, to melt all the soap evenly. It is then left to rest for at least one night.
When it is completely cooled you will see its true consistency. It is not easy to predict exactly the degree of density of the liquid if you use your own bars of soap. If it is too liquid, more soap must be reduced into flakes and brought back to the boil. If it is too solid, add an adequate amount of boiling water and pass the liquid with an immersion blender to make it homogeneous. Keep it in plastic bottles recovered from the time when you still bought cleanings.
