Bakuchiol (Psoralea corylifolia)

Bakuchiol is a chemical compound isolated from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia and named after the Sanskrit name of the plant, Bakuchi.

Used traditionally in Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, Bakuchiol has numerous properties that have led experts to compare its effects to those of retinol in skincare, without the disadvantages of the latter:

- It is not photosensitizing, so it can be used year-round, even in summer.

- It is highly dermocompatible and well-tolerated, even by sensitive skin.

- It is plant-based.

In particular, Bakuchiol has a range of anti-aging benefits for the skin, as it stimulates collagen production, a key component in making the skin firm and toned, helping to combat the appearance of wrinkles, spots, and signs of aging. It also has depigmenting, firming, and antioxidant properties, improving skin elasticity, evening out skin tone, and preventing fine lines.

Finally, thanks to its soothing and calming properties, it is often found in cosmetics for impure and acne-prone skin, as it helps relieve the skin and reduce issues related to sensitivity and reactivity.
