Burdock extract is a dry extract deriving from the Lappa root, more commonly known as Burdock (scientific name: Arctium lappa), a biennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, which grows spontaneously in uncultivated land and on the edge of ditches throughout the temperate zone of continental Europe. It can reach two meters in height and is equipped with an elongated taproot particularly voluminous, so much so that it is welded deep into the ground.

Burdock is rich in mineral salts such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium and also contains a fair variety of vitamins including vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A and some of the B vitamins. For this reason it is used in all its parts, as needed.

The most used part, however, is obviously the characteristic root which, collected before flowering, is cut transversely and longitudinally before subjecting it to drying.

Thanks to its well-known purifying, soothing and antiseptic properties, the use of the root extract is recommended for the care of oily and impure skin, but also of oily skin and hair.
