Honey

Honey is produced by bees, which use the nectar of flowers or, for some types of honey, also plant secretions (e.g. oak honey). The nectar, once collected, is dehydrated by the bees who, later, add enzymes to it and only then place it in the combs. After the honey is deposited, the beekeeper extracts the cells from the combs by means of a centrifugation process, and leaves the honey to decant into glass jars. The properties of honey vary according to the type of flower, plant and local climate. To preserve its characteristics, honey must be cold extracted because if subjected to a temperature of about 45 degrees it begins to lose its properties and degrade. Honey is particularly suitable for the care of dry skin, with particular reference to areas of the body that are rougher or affected by dehydration problems, such as elbows, hands and heels. This is due to its hygroscopic property, i.e. its ability to absorb and retain water. Furthermore, thanks to its anti-inflammatory action, but also its antibacterial action, honey is also a valid ally to counteract the appearance of pimples and skin imperfections. Also thanks to its antibacterial properties, honey is one of the most popular remedies for taking care of chapped lips. If there are cuts on the lips, honey will in fact help to heal them and will have a healing action. Honey, thanks to vitamin E, also has remarkable antioxidant properties and this causes it to slow down the natural aging of the skin a lot. In the case of mature skin, it is advisable to choose the darkest honey on the market, given that the darker the honey, the more important the antioxidant benefits will be. Composed mainly of fructose, glucose, water, mineral salts and enzymes, honey is also a precious ally for the beauty of the hair, as it helps to cure brittle and dry hair and helps to regenerate the hair fiber. Honey-based wraps are also useful for lightening hair naturally.

Oro del Daino is a small organic farm located in Montespino (Mondaino-RN), a breathtaking valley where farms, woods and cultivated fields alternate, a stone's throw from the historic center of Mondaino. The company is family run and has been handed down for several generations, specializing in the production of cereals, flour, legumes and honey. Mirko and Cristina decided to found it years ago, moving from Riccione. Their honey is the result of a system of methods and precautions aimed at obtaining a 100% pure, good and healthy product, certified with a regular seal on the label by the Mediterranean Institute of Certification (IMC).
