The Scots Pine (Pinus Sylvestris) is an evergreen tree of the Pinaceae family, typical of the Mediterranean area that can reach 40 meters in height. It has needle-like leaves with a blue shade and pine cones which, after losing the seeds, take on a woody consistency.

The essential oil of Scots Pine (Pinus Sylvestris Twig Leaf Oil) is obtained from the twigs and needles by steam distillation and is characterized by an intense balsamic and woody scent.

From the essential pine oil, on a therapeutic level, various benefits can be obtained: it acts as a stimulant of the nervous system, for this reason it is used against the sense of fatigue, stress or in case of sleep disorders. At a therapeutic level, it also acts as a mucolytic, expectorant, which is why it is included in the pharmaceutical formulations of ointments and ointments to be massaged on the chest and neck in case of seasonal illnesses. The essence released by this oil is in fact easily able to penetrate the skin where it acts as a cough suppressant and fluidifier, giving well-being to the upper respiratory tract.

It is rarely used in perfumery, but in cosmetics its perfuming and flavoring properties are exploited in deodorants, body cleansers and aftershaves. It is also often used in home fragrances, being balsamic.
